
The Two Life of Sepideh-Best Actor-Best Cinematography
After learning about her estranged mother’s severe Alzheimer’s, Sepideh, a single mother, chooses to visit her after ten years despite their troubled past to see if her mother still recognizes her and remembers their conflicts.
Soha Niasti, a 28-year-old Iranian filmmaker and actress, holds a background in architecture from the University of Tehran. In 2019, she made her acting debut in the film “My Second Year in College,” which earned her the Best Actress award at the Moscow Film Festival. Niasti’s passion for filmmaking led her to learn the craft from her life partner, acclaimed director Saeed Roostaei, known for films such as “Leila’s Brothers” (Cannes 2022) and “Just 6.5.” (Cesar 2021)
What if someone you deeply hate because they did something terrible that changed your life for bad, develops Alzheimer’s and forgets all the things they had done to you. Can you still blame them for your misery and be mad at them? what if that person is your mother?
It is about memory and its responsibility. It is about illness, punishment and forgiveness. At the center is the encounter between a mother and daughter who, after years as strangers, must come to terms with a possible rapprochement, resurfacing grudges, regrets and a cumbersome rift between their respective memories.
