Participation in this AI contest should be understood as an exploratory exercise only. Results may vary, and the Festival makes no representations or warranties regarding the quality, originality, or suitability of AI-generated content.
Participant Rules & Guidelines
Please note: You may use AI to create your entire film, or incorporate AI partially to enhance your work. Both approaches are acceptable.
Eligibility
>> Open to filmmakers worldwide.
>> Entry is free of charge.
Film Requirements
>> Theme: Must be horror-themed for Halloween.
>> AI Requirement: Film must be created primarily with AI tools (for visuals, voices, or editing)
>> Length: Minimum 1 minute - Maximum 3 minutes.
>> Format: MP4 or MOV, 1080p minimum.
>> Originality: Content must be original.

>> Deadline: October 31, 2025.

AI Innovation (30%) – Creative use of AI tools.
Creativity (20%) – Originality and artistic vision.
Storytelling (20%) – Strength and clarity of the narrative.
Sound Design (10%) – Quality and impact of audio.
Overall Impact (20%) – The film’s lasting impression.

Prizes
>> Grand Prize: $300 CAD (PayPal or e-transfer).
>> Finalist Recognition: Social media feature + official laurels.
Rights & Permissions
>> By entering, participants grant HNIFF the non-exclusive right to Share the film or clips on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and a website, and so on.
>> Creators retain full ownership of their films.
Disqualification
>> Entries with hate speech or plagiarized content will be disqualified.
>> Late submissions (after October 31, 11:59 PM PST) will not be considered.
Winner
>> The three entries with the most audience likes on Instagram will become our top three finalists.
>> Audience will select the 2025 Best AI Horror Film.
>> The winner will be announced by November 7, 2025.
>> The prize will be delivered by November 15, 2025.
>> The other two finalists will receive official Hollywood North International Film Festival laurels.
