The Artist: A Creative Journey explores the powerful impact of the creative arts on one's well-being and mental health. Narrated by Andrew Phung, the film stars Juno-nominated artist, Tyler Shaw, muralist, Alixandra Jade, folk singer/songwriter, Martin Kerr, and dancer, Paige Elson, as they share stories of overcoming adversity, finding joy, and creating meaningful connections to the Edmonton, and Calgary, AB., community.

The Artist: A Creative Journey is a documentary about the power of the creative arts, and the connection to one's well-being and the community.
Being exposed to the arts as a child was life-changing for me. It was a safe place for me to express my feelings, and experience relief from the hardships I faced. I learned early on that the arts have a transformative power, whether it is through participating in the arts, viewing it, or listening to it, we can all find joy and healing through the arts. This is why I feel so strongly about championing the arts, especially for children, and the future of arts in education.
I personally reached out to the talented, award-winning artists, Andrew Phung, Tyler Shaw, Alixandra Jade and Martin Kerr, and received immediate responses from them. All of the artists connected to the message in the film. This is a story about breaking down barriers, creating greater access to the arts, and understanding that the creative arts are an essential part of human connection. I am thrilled and grateful to finally be able to share The Artist: A Creative Journey documentary with audiences around the world.
