When does HNIFF 2026 take place?

Submissions close on 1 October 2026. Festival dates and the awards night are announced on this site and on Instagram once the programme is set.

How do I submit my film?

All entries go through FilmFreeway — see Submit Your Film for categories and dates. Entry requirements, fees and rules live on the FilmFreeway listing.

Can one film enter more than one category?

Yes — FilmFreeway offers entry into two or three categories at a reduced combined fee. Each category is screened by people comparing like with like.

When are results announced?

Winners are announced at the awards night, and published on this site afterwards under Awards.

Do I need an account to watch?

Browsing is open to everyone. Watching a full film needs a free account — sign in with your email and a six-digit code; there is no password to remember.

Why can't I play a certain film?

Every film screens for an agreed window. When a film's window has ended — or a premiere is being protected before a festival screening — playback is off, but the film's page stays.

I'm a selected filmmaker — how do I manage my film's page?

Sign in with the same email you used on FilmFreeway. Your film's page, poster, credits and messages with the festival are all under Your films.

How do I get my laurels?

Official Selection and award laurels come from the festival. Write to info@hollywoodnorthfilmfestival.org and we will send your set.
