Golden Pendant

I wanted to make a short film based on historical mythology. The story began when I came across information about Ægishjálmur pendants, and I built my own story around that. I had also promised the actress Henna-Maija Alitalo that I would make a film where she could ride a horse. In this film, I made her dream come true. Aren’t dreams meant to be fulfilled? I believe they are. Henna-Maija performed all her own riding scenes. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. Choosing a viking theme for the film was easy, as there are many enthusiasts and warriors of that era in Hämeenlinna. We were also lucky to include actors from four generations. We had the legendary Raimo Viitanen play the wise man of the story, and his daughter Taina is potraying Dorotea’s grandmother. The young Dorotea’s mother, in turn, is played by the lead acress Iina Sihvonen, who is Dorotea as an adult. For me, Golden Pendant is not just an adventure. It’s a story about believing and having the courage to move forward, to overcome the obstacles in life.
