From the director
An idea I've been sitting on for a few years, as my parents live in Arizona and I drive from Los Angeles to them at least 3 times a year. I often think of the horrors that could be outside the car windows in the distance. What a voice out there might really be, the feeling in the pit of your stomach when something doesn't feel right. The idea always made me uneasy, and I thought, "how can I intensify this feeling?" Wanting to answer my own question, as well as making something more serious and poignant, while also involving the black experience (much like Jordan Peele's Get Out), the idea fell into a diner in the wrong part of the country where feeling comfortable isn't an option and thus, "SKIN"!
