"El Tesoro," a 21 minute short film featuring captivating performances by Academy Award-nominated actress Adriana Barraza, Roberto Sosa, and Mónica Huarte, sheds light on Mexico's current humanitarian crisis of missing people, with more than 120,000 individuals disappeared, though estimates suggest this number could be up to three times greater. The film was shot in Jalisco, where the largest clandestine grave in Mexico, containing 104 bodies, was discovered.
The fact that "El Tesoro" was filmed in this specific region of Mexico and received financing and support from CM Films, a Jalisco-based company, serves as a powerful testament to our determination to narrate our own stories and find healing in the process. It underscores the idea that we don't need external voices to share our poignant narratives.
