Hollywood North International Film Festival
Privacy Policy
The Hollywood North International Film Festival ("HNIFF", "we") runs this site from Vancouver, British Columbia. This page says what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it. It is written to be read.
What we collect
An email address, and a name if you choose to give one, when you create an account. Sign-in codes are sent to that address; we never store a password. When you sign in, we record the time, network address and browser of the sign-in — it protects your account, and lets us spot one being misused. If you like a film, we record that your account liked it. If you submitted a film, we hold the contact details that came with the submission so we can reach you about your film. If you check in at the gala, we hold the name and contact details you give at the door, and whether you agreed to receive festival emails.
How we use it
To run the platform: signing you in, counting likes, contacting filmmakers about their films, and running the festival itself. If you ticked the box agreeing to festival emails, we may write to you about future editions; we don't email otherwise, and you can withdraw that consent any time by writing to us.
Where it lives
Our database is hosted with our hosting provider. Video and images are delivered by Cloudflare. Emails are sent through our mail provider. These providers process data on our behalf to run the service and for no other purpose.
What we never do
We do not sell personal information. We do not run advertising. We do not share your details with sponsors or any third party for their own use.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. Write to info@hollywoodnorthfilmfestival.org and we will act on it.
The law this follows
We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act.
